January Blog - Turks and Caicos Real Estate

New Years resolutions are all well and good but it takes more than good intentions to improve our life – we must act! Is this the year you will invest in a new life style for you and your family? The timing is perfect as the opportunities are there! Prices have never been better here in the Beautiful By Nature Turks and Caicos Islands. Providenciales and Grace Bay Beach are as beautiful as ever! The waters are the same green, azure and blues as always. The skies are sunny for the most part and the weather is definitely better than anywhere up north! Today is January 15th and it is sunny, light winds and it is 27C/80F!

However it is not just the weather or views that make a destination a dream location. There are many factors and some are more important to some people than others – we all have somewhat different values. Determining and appreciating those values is the key to a successful relationship between you and your real estate agent. One reason why the Turks and Caicos and Providenciales in particular have been the choice of many families is the diversity of our opportunities. Sometimes it can be confusing and a client may feel overwhelmed with choice but in the end a good agent can help. An agent with experience and integrity will find the right fit for you! Our ERA Team is ‘experience’! We have been here and in the business for an average of over 20 years each!

Some news of importance announced by Governor Gordon Wetherell was the signing of important tax information exchange agreements which he says will ‘enhance the country’s reputation and confidence in its future with the international business community’. It comes just weeks before sanctions threatened by G20 nations were due to kick in affecting all off-shore jurisdictions that do not comply with global tax transparency standards. The Turks and Caicos have taken this important step for the stability of the business sector and the financial services sector.

Also big news concerning the Provo airport – code PLS. The Governor has approved the financial arrangements to cover an expected $100million expansion to our airport. The new facilities include a large and modern terminal, car park and longer runway satisfying International Civil Aviation Organization standards. Tenders are out now and construction is scheduled to begin within weeks. This is exciting news for Island investors as it will allow European flights to come directly to our shores! We know that the European market will embrace our Islands for their natural beauty and uncrowned beaches. The Government has also announced an asset purchase agreement has been concluded with the Provo Airport Company allowing the airport to be once again owned by the people of the Turks and Caicos. Rumor has it (our favorite source of information) that negotiations are underway for future direct flights from the South America; we will keep you posted on this.
Also we have the beautiful resorts and great restaurants in Provo that are appreciated by our guests. This diversification of our visitors will help to enhance our future economic stability for all investors.
So indications are for a bright future indeed for the Turks and Caicos Islands. Things will start to get back to normal this year and within two or three years we will again be well placed to claim the Caribbean Destination top spot! When you consider our assets and see the world demand you must agree!

Consider the Turks and Caicos advantages:
1) Our US$ making prices here a bargain for other currencies including the Canadian dollar.
2) Great geographical location for temperate weather year around.
3) British Dependant Territory
4) Great beaches and no crowds!
5) World class product – well designed condos and homes built to South Florida Building Code standards.
6) Beautiful resorts and homes catering to the elite traveler.
7) Shops and stores comparable to the best anywhere.
9) Flight connections and direct flights from major cities in the U.S., Canada and U.K.
10) New hospitals opening in 2010 and a new national medical plan.
11) Unspoiled – still places to be all alone on miles of beach.
12) Lots of choice for the active person. Golf, diving, riding, snorkeling, fishing, boating …..
