The Spring Break time of year!
Lots of young families seem to have discovered the Turks and Caicos Islands this spring! We have attracted ‘older families’ for vacation time for many years but this year we are seeing many younger groups around. It is due to the many new flight and the terrific packages offered by the airlines and many of the condo/hotels here this year. This is a great place for younger children – the seas are warm and the beaches are clean – lots of fun for little ones and parents building sand castles, riding the ‘Banana Boat’ or learning to snorkel!
The weather in Florida this winter was miserable and this brought more people south too. We did see several couples with condos in Florida looking at potential purchasing in Turks and Caicos throughout the season- looking for a warmer destination. Warmer and no crowds! The popular ‘Mainland’ destinations are just too busy in winter now. Long traffic delays, crowds on the beaches and in shopping malls do not make for a restful rejuvenating vacation. Providenciales now has shopping – no malls but many nice stores to give you an alternative to lounging on the beach with a good book!
Providenciales has never been known as a “ low cost” destination and we do not compete with the package low price all-inclusive destinations found in many of the Islands now. Provo offers a quality product that blends both the amenities of a sophisticated destination with the laid back old Caribbean experience many tourists want. You can still get away to a deserted beach or make a day trip to sister islands that are practically deserted and then enjoy a world class dining experience at our many ‘gourmet’ restaurants.
Conventional hotels numbers are limited here. However, we have about a dozen magnificent Condo developments that rent out luxury rooms – from a studio to penthouse suites.
